Beautiful strawberry quartz stone nestled in fine silver bezel atop a floral embossed sterling silver scalloped band. Size 6.5

One of a kind sterling silver rustic strawberry quartz ring is an artisan piece of wearable art. This Strawberry quartz is a lovely rose cut with facets in the face of the stone which has great light play and it is smooth on the bottom as a cabochon.

The scalloped edges were created in a hydraulic press which cuts the metal under force of the jack (think high powered cookie cutter for a sheet of silver). The metal is sanded, textured, and formed into the ring band. The bezel is fabricated separately and then soldered to the band of the ring. Metal is again cleaned in a mild acid solution (i use a citric acid) sanded, tweaked and adjustments are made, patina is added and finally the piece is readied for setting of the stone.

A final polish and removal of unwanted patina is completed and the ring is finished.

Strawberry quartz gets its color from inclusions of various forms of iron oxide. There are four different but chemically related iron oxides that may be found in quartz. They include lepidocrocite (FeO(OH)), goethite (also FeO(OH) but with a different crystal structure), limonite (FeO(OH)*nH2O) and hematite (Fe2O3).

Strawberry quartz is a rare find often found in Russia and in neighboring regions such as Kazakhstan, as well as in Brazil.

Thanks for stopping and enjoying this work and i hope you’ll come by often.
